Sunbird revisited

These photo taken at Wisma Domain Sect51A Petaling Jaya using the Sigma APO 70-200mm f2.8 with Sigma APO1:4 teleconverter and fill in flash. The Sunbird just flew 8ft from where I was standing. Out of 10 shots 2 came out nice. Maybe I panic. Anyhow the setting was 1/60 ISO100 f4 handheld AutoWB.

Birdies in the Wild Series 17- Yellow-vented Bulbul

Today I encountered a Bulbul's nest. I wonder why it made it nest so conspicuous and low. I have heard of them nesting at balcony potted plants. Maybe its a simbiosis between people and them. In Ipoh they do fly near me as close as 6-8 ft and even pose for you. My believe is its their way to distract you from their nest closeby.
I was abled to approach it as close as a few feets with my Tamron SP90mm Macro lens. Did not bring my tele lenses.

Parent- in-laws in town

The inlaws are in town. As usual the food is the main itinenary. They are down for 2 weeks. First place is in Sri Damansara. The place is having Crab promotion @ RM18kg. This is my first time there. Ah Seong belanja this time so asked for Stewed Pork in superior sauce with mantou. Now that dish is a class above all. The fat just melt in your mouth and the meat so tender. My perfect dish almost. The bun is perfectly fried with the inside smooth and soft like sponge to soak up the crab gravy.

The Cod fish was so so and the house's / Chiewpai Taufoo is well mouth melting good.
The Mantis prawn though a bit small can match HauKee Cheras. All in all a satisfied outing.

Food rating: 3.5 stars.
Ambience: Crowded (on weekday!) Intermediate shop. Place is brightly lighted and clean. Upstairs aircon. Carparking a hassle.
Total bill: RM150 (8 dishes) for 10 pax.
Value for money: Very Good

Second outing to Cheras Leng Kee in Taman Taynton . Can you believe tilapia fish at RM28. Well its cooking style is new to me. A bit Thai style and dry for my liking. The mayonaise pork was also a letdown. The taufoo with vegie was overcook and the sauce is a bit sweet.

Rating on food 2.5 stars.

Total bill RM150 (6 dishes) for 10 pax..

Ambience : Small Crowd (weekend) Corner with intermediate shop. Place a bit dingy and simple. Sambal chilli is good. Ample parking road side

Value for money : Average. Ah Peng insist on paying.

Ching Ming 2006 Back to Ipoh

It was a weekend stay in Ipoh for Ching Ming. As usual on arrival we went to Kong Hing for our brunch with Mum. Kai was back too this time with Ah Fei & Mengmeng meeting us at Sam Poh Tong in the afternoon.

At Sam Poh Tong the crowd was missing because the actual start of Ching Ming is on the 12.04.06. Not so festive lor .............very quiet in fact. We have the whole place to ourselves minus the incense and noise. Good for KY to explore the place on her own without having to worry she getting lost. As usual it time for burning of offerings to Dad and the elder take charge with the grandsons counting the hell money

Side tracking went photography while mum pray in the temple. In the garden pool you can find miniature figuarines that are surreal. Best in the morning time. I kind of like the one which Buddha meditating behind an archway in a cave. The pond is a bit dilapidated and I think its time for upgrade and do over.

Sg Klah Hot Spring Sungkai Perak

We decided to take the old trunk road back to KL exiting the Highway at Bidor from Ipoh. Do you know that the section of this road is now a 4 carriageway from there to Tanjung Malim. However the speed limit is 90km per hour. I do not mind cos I saved at least RM20 in toll charges.

Anyway we wanted to see the newly sprung up Hot Spring in Sungkai. It about 13.5km off the trunk road and I must say its well planned by Felda. We have been to Poring in KK, Tambun Ipoh and the Langkawi's but this place beats them all in term of its natural green being conserved. We get to encounter owl, chameleon, monitor lizard and gorgeous butterflies.

You have to pay an entrance fees of RM5 and RM3 per adult and child respectively. It very popular during the weekends. It would be a wonderful sight after an overnight drizzle as the sulphurous steam from the oozing hot spring bellows and misting. A boardwalk and spa hut is build alongside the meandering stream leading to the man made swimming pool.

The popular activity is egg boiling and the water is boiling hottt!!!!

There you must also try out the reflexology pebble path with hot water flowingunder your feet. Wow what a painful hot feeling. Do drink a lot of water to rinse and excrete the body's toxins.

In June 2006 you can stay in their new chalets which are now under construction together with a new cold pool. That will be just dandy. Maybe Janet would like to go when she back. KY enjoying a swinging time and was reluctant to leave.

You can also rent one of the private enclosure spa for RM25-50 per hour depending on the size. At the time of visit the 6 jacuzzis were fully occupied so I cannot test out the pool.

Laman Seni Kuala Lumpur - Art Bazaar

Every first Saturday of the month you can visit the art flea bazaar at Balai Seni Jalan Tun Razak Kuala Lumpur. They now have permanent canopies for craft people and art faternity to gather and promote their works. This is our second visit. The visitor count is still low since its inception last year or so. Its best to visit when Balai Seni have other special exhibits. This way you enjoy your visit better.

I was contemplating to get the dragonfly pewter ware for RM160.00 is a real bargain. It can be good house warming gift. Yes that is a good idea.

There is booth displaying painting by yet another autistic boy. I kind of like his strong colours in crayon. Its original are selling for hundreds of ringgit. I sure the value of his work will appreciate once it make the news like autistic boy Yeak Ping Lian whose painting of the Ubudiah Mosque in Kuala Kangsar was sold for RM100,000 at the grand auction of the Riding for the Disabled Association Charity Ball in Kuala Lumpur 2004. Regret never bought his!!!!!!!! when his work were display right here. Talk onlylah.

You can buy finger food of ubi kayu and pisang which come with coconut and brown sugar at one store. Luv it. The food is kept in a copper tiffin carrier with glass window which is my first time I seeing it.

Art souveneirs and trinkets costing a few ringgit can be purchase here. Painting on rock going for RM5

Birdie in the Wild series 16 Perdana Lake Garden KL

We were at Perdana Lake garden today. Managed to capture this beauty Koel . There was a pair of them feeding on fruits.
Photos taken using Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 APO HSM lens with Sigma APO teleconverter 1:4. Its still a bit soft for my liking

I also sighted a Malkoha and its nesting at one of the low tree. Most probably a Great Green Bill. Hope to capture a picture one of these days as I know where it is.
